Ke Nako, woza Mzansi!

David Livingstone went to darkest Africa as a lone missionary. After some time his missions committee wrote to him saying, "Some people would like to join you. What’s the easiest road to get where you are?" He replied, "If they’re looking for the easiest road, tell them to stay in England. I want people who will come, even if there’s no road at all!"
This has been the story of Africa for centuries. For many nations and peoples of our continent the roads have been steep, slippery, skewed, sparse, and mostly stormy. It has never been easy but by the grace of God we can now say
‘KE NAKO!’
It is time, our time, Africa’s time to arise and shine and step onto the stage of the world no longer filled with darkness, destruction, and despair but filled with HOPE.
This hope will not be in earthly institutions or manmade structures but will be the contagious Christ in us, our (Africa’s) hope of glory.
How can you and I be a part of the greatest time in the history of a continent? Isn’t that a bit ridiculous to think so BIG? No and again I say to you NO. We were born for such a time as this. We were formed, fearfully, wonderfully and accurately designed and put together by the Author of life to live BIG lives for His glory. We can and will change the world!
Let us consider three important aspects of being a world changer:
1. Firstly you need IDENTITY in Christ. We absolutely have to believe that being world changers is who we were born to be and that through the Blood of Christ it is who we are right now! For us to shape the future of a nation, a continent, the world, we need to know who we are. Our destiny is a product of our identity. When we know who we are, we will know where to go and how to get there.
Consider this insightful illustration:
I heard the story of the woman driving through a snowstorm just outside of Denver. She was completely lost and struggling under the hazardous weather conditions. She was relieved when she happened upon a snowplow. Since she was lost, she decided to follow the truck and kept as close to the machine as she could while it removed snow from the road. At times the blowing snow almost cut off her view, but she kept following it.
After some time, the snowplow stopped and the driver got out and came back to her car. "Lady, where are you going?" he asked.
"I’m on my way to Denver." she replied.
The truck driver replied, "Well, you’ll never get there following me! I’m plowing a parking lot!" – Tommy Burrows

God help us that we may walk circumspectly, redeeming the time, worthy of being followed even as we are following Christ, the One and only hope for Africa because we know who we are in Him.
2. Secondly in order for us to be history shapers and not mere spectators we have to get INVOLVED. As Pastor Bert has said on numerous occasions “Get in the game!”
Romans 11 NKJV
‘...now it is HIGH TIME to awake out of sleep…The night is far spent, the day is at hand.’
The day brings light and life. It dispels all the fears and doubts that so easily befall us in the night. But when we sense the breaking of a new season, the dawning of a new day we have to choose to wake up, get up and be all that we were born to be.
3. Lastly we have to understand that it is not a one man show! Changing the world will be a combined team effort of the entire body of Christ. Every individual who has made a significant impact in the world had followers who believed in him/her. We have to be UNITED. We have to understand the value of relationships in this our earth assignment. This is the cause of Christ – to unite all in one body, none lost, and none left behind but all rescued and connected to the Father through the Son by the power of the Spirit.
Ephesians 4 NKJV
‘…from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does it share, causes growth…’
World changers, history makers, have one heart, one mind, one purpose: to be one people, serving one GOD!
